Introduction from the Captain
Since The Golf Club took over the running of the site and the golf course we have had to adapt to a new way of the site being run and the new facilities that are on offer to us and the general public.
Membership numbers have increased from below 100 between two and three years ago, up to 220 full members and 50 secondary members. There are also many lady and junior members.
My aim for 2020 is to encourage these members to enter the competitions.
During 2018 the committee issued 50 new handicaps to 50 new members, and most of these members are now participating in the club competitions, which I feel is a major achievement.
I would like to thank the outgoing captain, John Riley, who held the post for the last two years, for all the work, time and effort he contributed. Also thanks to the committee, which has worked hard to grow the membership and organise golf events and competitions.
I am asking for you all to support my nominated charity for 2020, which will be Guernsey Down Syndrome Group.
The captain’s hazard for 2020 will be the bunker beside the 9th green. Please donate whatever you feel appropriate and put it into the new post box which has been fitted to the cabin.
Hopefully this will collect a few pounds in the summer months.
As I am sure you all agree, the course is in the best condition it has been for many years, following substantial investment from The Golf Club. The greens are in superb condition and we all owe a big ‘thank you’ to Rihards and his green-keeping team.
Thank you,
Brian Prigent (Captain)
